Earlier this week, Instagram added a new poll stickers feature to Stories alongside two new creative tools. Now, the Facebook-owned photo-sharing app is adding a new face filter to its fold, which lets users place a beam of light on their image.
Even if there is no sunshine around, the new face filter on Instagram will enable users to place a beam of sunlight on their selfie. Once the filter is applied, tap on the screen to move it around or you can tap on the light to change its orientation from vertical to horizontal and vice-versa. The feature will work with Boomerang, Rewind, and other camera formats and creative tools. The images can be added to the Instagram story or can be sent to your friends through Instagram Direct. The new face filter will be available as part of Instagram version 10.21 and higher for iOS and Android in their respective app stores.
“Today, you’ll see a new face filter that lets you brighten up the moment by placing a beam of light on your selfie or the world around you — even if the sun isn’t shining,” the Instagram blog post reads. Introduced by Snapchat, face filters are the latest fad in the world of social media and successful platforms like the Facebook-owned Instagram are doing well in capitalizing on it by making it accessible everywhere possible. In a bid to boost the popularity of Stories on the platform, Instagram released an update earlier this month giving users the ability to check out Instagram stories via the web version of the app on desktops and also on smartphones.
